VW will deepen alliances with battery suppliers for electric push

Volkswagen Group will create joint ventures and help finance battery production as it seeks to persuade skeptical cell suppliers to back its aggressive push for mass producing electric vehicles, Stefan Sommer, the automaker's purchasing chief, told Reuters.
