STAGE:Fisker OceanThe small car will be discontinued after 2020.
STAGE:Honda FitA replacement for the discontinued compact crossover is possible in early 2025. Unlike the previous QX30, which shared a platform with the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover, the reincarnation will ride on the Renault-Nissan developed CMF platform. An e-Power variant could be offered. The QX30 was discontinued after the 2019 model year.
STAGE:Infiniti QX30Subaru's U.S. sales leader through August is likely a couple of years from a freshening.
STAGE:Subaru ForesterThe subcompact crossover is Ford’s lone entry-level vehicle in the U.S., and sales were down 12 percent in the first half of a pandemic-ravaged 2020.
STAGE:Ford EcoSportIn 2023, Cadillac is expected to launch an electric SUV similar in size to the Escalade.

STAGE:Hyundai PalisadeIt looks like nothing else on the market, and that’s just what Elon Musk wants.
STAGE:Tesla CybertruckThe 6 Series GT and Gran Coupe ended production in 2019 and have been discontinued in the U.S.
STAGE:BMW 6 seriesSpy shots suggest the Genesis version could be a tall hatchback, echoing the body of EV crossovers such as the Tesla Model Y that are relatively low to the ground to reduce wind resistance and increase efficiency.
STAGE:Genesis EVThe speedy sedan finally gets the Redeye treatment with a 797-hp model.
STAGE:Dodge ChargerPorsche is introducing its flat-six engine to the 718 Boxster GTS family, replacing the current four-cylinder models.
STAGE:Porsche 718 BoxsterA freshen comes in 2022, and a redesign is still some years off — possibly in the second half of 2024.
STAGE:Infiniti QX50Deliveries of the new Speedtail, McLaren's three-seat hypercar with a production run of 106 vehicles, began this summer.
STAGE:McLaren SpeedtailWith V-8 and W-12 variants on sale in either coupe or convertible form, additional Continental GT variants appear to be the next step. It's unclear when the electrified Continental GT will arrive, but given Bentley's 2023 goal, it won't be too far off. A Speed variant also seems likely, given the rollout cadence of the Continental GT's previous generations.
STAGE:Bentley Continental GTIt could be one and done for the most road-friendly Range Rover yet, which debuted in 2017.
STAGE:Land Rover Range Rover VelarFresh off a redesign for the 2020 model year, the midsize sedan is a few years away from a refresh.
STAGE:Subaru LegacyDue to shelter-at-home orders and other government restrictions because of the COVID-19 outbreak, electric truckmaker Rivian is pushing back plans to launch sales of a pickup and SUV assembled at a resurrected Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Ill.

STAGE:Ram ProMaster CityThe large crossover earned a stay of execution when brand officials realized they could sell it to fleets to avoid diluting sales of the new Aviator crossover, but the MKT will be killed in early 2020.
STAGE:Lincoln MKTFCA's Toluca plant in Mexico was down in July to prepare for the compact crossover's midcycle freshening.
STAGE:Jeep CompassHyundai's economy sedan soldiers on for the 2021 model year unchanged. The automaker has said it will continue to sell the Accent as long as there is demand, but the subcompact Venue crossover — new for the 2020 model year — eventually will take over. The entry-level vehicles are running neck-and-neck in sales through July, with the Accent at 9,832 and the Venue at 8,791. If the Accent stays around for 2022, a freshen is possible.

STAGE:Volvo XC100There is some discussion of Polestar introducing a performance sedan. But it's unclear whether that project has been greenlighted.
STAGE:Polestar performance sedanA replacement for BMW's first battery-electric car is not planned. U.S. sales of the i3 began in 2014. The automaker sold 4,905 copies last year.
STAGE:BMW i3The coupe, based on the Volvo Concept Coupe, is clad in carbon fiber. The advanced material reduces bodyweight and improves torsional rigidity by 45 percent, the automaker said. The carbon fiber also made it possible to create crisper lines and sharper creases. The 2020 Polestar 1 uses a double electric rear axle to enable torque vectoring and is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine. The PHEV has a 93-mile electric-only range.
STAGE:Polestar Polestar 1Like the Tundra on which it’s based, Toyota’s three-row, body-on-frame large SUV is long in the tooth and in desperate need of an overhaul, which will arrive in 2022, when it is to be redesigned onto the F1 platform.
STAGE:Toyota SequoiaThe coupe and its convertible counterpart will be the first all-electric models from the brand when they debut in 2022.
STAGE:Maserati GranTurismoFord has canceled plans to build the next-generation Edge midsize crossover, meaning the nameplate will die at the end of its life cycle in 2023. When reports surfaced this year about the cancellation, the automaker’s response was telling: “We have no plans to exit the segment,” Ford said. Still, there’s a slim chance the fate of the Edge could change following contract negotiations with the Canadian labor union Unifor.
STAGE:Ford EdgeComing off a major midcycle freshening this year, Audi's three-row crossover won't be due for a redesign until 2024, given the brand's traditional product cycles.

STAGE:Chevrolet CorvetteThe full-size pickup jettisoned its diesel variant and received a freshening this year. The 2020 Titan received crossover-quality safety features and technology along with a utility-grade powertrain. Under the hood, the model has a tweaked 5.6-liter V-8 engine that delivers 400 hp. Nissan gave the Titan XD more frills and horsepower and a new transmission as the company attempts to spur more demand for its largest pickup.
The long-term future of the nameplate, however, is unclear due to its inability to compete against the segment’s U.S.-badged leaders. In the first half of this year, the Titan captured just a 1.2 percent share of the full-size segment.
STAGE:Nissan TitanDespite a freshening last year, sales of the luxury compact sport sedan have been abysmal — just 780 were sold in the second quarter, down 31 percent compared with the same period a year earlier. It's unlikely Jaguar will spend any more money on the XE trying to compete with the BMW 3 Series. Future plans for the XE are reported to be in flux.
STAGE:Jaguar XERolls-Royce will join the electrification party eventually, but its first EV likely won't land until around 2025 or 2026.

STAGE:Maserati QuattroporteTesla might make a minivan. At some point. Maybe. At least that’s what Musk told Automotive News Publisher Jason Stein this summer, echoing similar comments he made on the company’s earnings call in January. While he hasn’t offered a time frame, a van likely wouldn’t happen before the Cybertruck, Roadster or the semitruck. Musk said he wants to build it if only for looks. “One thing would be, can you make a minivan that looks good? Nobody’s ever done that,” he said.

The timing of its arrival has been unclear from the automakers except that it'll be in the first half of the 2020s.

STAGE:Honda OdysseyWhen the history of the COVID-19 pandemic is written, there should be a prominent place for the auto industry heroes who stepped up, pitched in, mobilized, fed, educated and comforted.
Choosing No. 1 was easy. The tough part was remembering nine other things that happened this year.
COVID-19 disrupted but didn't cancel some of 2020's biggest product debuts and tech advances, but we did detect one major shift — changes and updates seem to be coming faster inside, under the hood, even in the drivetrain, than outside.
Automakers this year pressed ahead with new investments in assembly plants, including expansions, retoolings and purchases of undeveloped land, despite early concerns the pandemic would make 2020 a washout.
The 44th annual Automotive News World Congress in Detroit went virtual this year in an eight-week series of Congress Conversations that highlighted issues and trends in the auto industry emerging from the pandemic.

The Gran Coupe rides on a chassis and body that is 9.1 inches longer, 1.4 inches wider, 2.3 inches taller and with a 7.9-inch larger wheelbase over the M8 Coupe.
